Seven Women Maternity: Our Successful 20th Year of Business & Relationship with Our Customers
Can you believe it? Seven Women is 20 years old this year. And on this occasion, we thought we would look back at some of the heartwarming and sometimes funny stories that have happened throughout the years.
How it all began
We started Seven Women in 2002, in the same spot where our shop is located today: 7690 Yonge Street. Two decades later and the business is still owned by the same group of women who wanted to bring to Toronto the finest maternity clothes and apparel from brand-name designers from around the world.
Some people ask why we named our store ‘Seven Women.’ For us, ‘7’ is an all-around auspicious number. It seems to be working because we’re still here and going strong!
Happy customers
Many of our clients have been shopping with us from the very start, and we’re honored to be a part of their journey.
It’s not unusual for a customer to bring in their eldest daughter for a shopping spree and tell us that they themselves actually bought a couple of maternity dresses from us when they were pregnant with their last child, way back when.
We’ve also dressed women through their multiple pregnancies over the years. We even dressed one client through all of her seven pregnancies, and another through all of her nine! How cool is that?
We also get a lot of grandmothers who have made it a tradition to treat their expectant daughters, nieces, and daughters-in-law to some retail therapy at the store. One of them even believes that bringing her pregnant family members to Seven Women is a lucky tradition that she can’t ever break. She’s been doing this for 12 years!
Touching moments
We still remember when an expecting father came in with his wife one day. He told us that during his teenage days, he regularly rode his bicycle past the store. So when his wife announced their pregnancy, he immediately thought of bringing her in for a special shopping spree.
And then there was an emotionally distraught lady who came into the store in tears, accompanied by her husband and mother. She had been to several other maternity clothing shops trying to find stylish pieces, only to be disappointed. We immediately showed her our selection of smart and fashionable designer maternity outfits and she was thrilled. She left the store 3 hours later with a big smile. Her husband looked relieved, too!
And of course, there are the gorgeous Seven Women brides—glowing, expectant moms who come to us to find the perfect dress for their wedding day. Thanks to our partnership with Tiffany Rose, we can offer them an extensive collection of beautiful and comfortable maternity bridal dresses.
Seven Women online
We launched the Seven Women e-commerce store in 2006 to cater to clients who live outside Toronto, and it was an instant hit. Our goal is to make the online shopping experience successful and satisfying. When you shop on our website, you can expect the same level of customer service we provide in-store.
